Kalamazoo College football's Lance Taylor was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Sept. 20).
Taylor was the leading receiver in the Hornets' 42-23 road win over Defiance this past Saturday. After trailing 10-7 at halftime, the offense exploded in the third quarter for 28 points to propel the team to a victory.
Quarterback Josh Nichols called Taylor's number a lot throughout the game, as he had eight receptions for 126 yards and two touchdowns. The first touchdown came on a 45-yard strike at the 2:20 mark in the third quarter, and the second was the game's final score on a 27-yard completion. He led the team in catches, yards, and touchdowns, including the longest reception, while averaging 15.8 yards per catch.
Those were Taylor's first two touchdowns of his five-year career after joining the team in 2018 and taking a redshirt year in the 2021 spring season. He also set career highs in catches, yards, touchdowns, and longest completion. Taylor has 23 catches for his career for 299 yards and two touchdowns.
Kalamazoo will attempt to go 4-0 by traveling to Alfred, N.Y., on Saturday (Sept. 24) and taking on Alfred, beginning at 12 p.m.
