The seniors on the 2021 Kalamazoo College men's basketball team have selected their Most Valuable Professors to recognize this season.

The Hornets selected Dr. Hannah Apps, Dr. Amanda Wollenberg, Dr. Gary Gregg, Professor Chuck Stull, Professor Sarah Lindley, and Dr. Dwight Williams.

Senior Thomas Cook selected Dr. Hannah Apps from the Economics Department to recognize as his MVP. Thomas credits Dr. Apps with helping him grow academically over the course of four years. He appreciates her use of real-world examples to create an engaging classroom. He is also grateful for her willingness to be available for extra help during office hours.

Dr. Amanda Wollenberg from the Biology Department was selected by senior Merritt Hamann. Despite only having taken two recent classes with Dr. Wollenberg, Merritt commends her incredibleness as a professor during the pandemic forcing classes to go online. He appreciates her effort in making the classes feel in person as opposed to being online. Her work ethic inspires Merritt to continue working hard towards becoming a better student and a better person.

Senior Jordan Currie selected Dr. Gary Gregg from the Psychology Department as his MVP. Jordan appreciates Dr. Gregg for being a great professor, but also for having a genuine interest in Jordan's life outside of academics. He appreciates Dr. Gregg's guidance in helping him plan for study abroad as well as his interest in basketball.

Professor Chuck Stull from the Economics Department was selected by senior Jack Smith. Jack describes Professor Stull as one who does his best to not only understand the material he is teaching but also understand the people to whom he is teaching. This makes him thorough and relatable. Jack appreciates Professor Stull's presence and support outside of the classroom as well.

Senior Calder Pellerin selected Professor Sarah Lindley from the Art Department to recognize as his MVP. He appreciates her for challenging him to be himself through his artwork. She constantly pushes him to explore his artistic style. Calder describes Professor Lindley as one who truly cares about who you are as a person, and not just a student. He is grateful for the time and effort she has put into his education, pushing him to become the best artist and best person he can be.

Dr. Dwight Williams from the Chemistry Department was selected by senior Rei Gundy. Rei appreciates Dr. Williams not for being nice to him, but for being tough on him. Rei credits him with much of his growth and teaching him how to study. He is grateful for learning the lesson of having to work hard to achieve success, which Dr. Williams had a large part in.
