Josh Decker of the Kalamazoo College men's basketball team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Jan. 31).
The men's basketball team continued MIAA play by hosting Hope (Jan. 25) and traveling to Alma (Jan. 28). The Hornets fell twice to the Flying Dutchmen 82-72 and the Scots 75-69.
Decker led the team in scoring at 19.0 points per game while shooting 54.5% (6-11) from three and 85.7% (12-14) from the free throw line. He scored a season-high 23 points while coming off the bench against Alma. Decker went 4-6 from beyond the arc and 9-11 from the charity stripe in the game while collecting four assists, three rebounds, and two steals as well.
On the season, Decker leads the Hornets with 13.3 points per game while shooting 42.9 percent overall and 40.6 percent from behind the arc. He also averages 2.9 rebounds and just under a steal and assist per game. For his career, Decker is a 40.1% three-point shooter and 83.3% free throw shooter, averaging 11.4 points per game. He scored a career-high 24 points against Hope on Feb. 14, 2022.
Kalamazoo will have two more conference games this week, first hosting #14 Calvin on Wednesday (Feb. 1) before traveling to Albion on Saturday (Feb. 4).
