Josh Burt was introduced as director of golf at Kalamazoo College on December 8, 2020. As director of golf, Burt oversees the Hornet men's and women's golf programs.

Burt came to Kalamazoo College from Gull Lake Country Club, where he was the first assistant golf professional for five years. As a PGA Professional, Burt taught private lessons and directed tournament operations while managing the Junior Golf Programs and coaching the PGA Jr. League. Prior to working at Gull Lake, Burt was an assistant pro at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, Mich., and was an assistant instructor with the Greg Webber Golf Academy at Hawk Hollow. He also assisted the Holt High School golf program in 2012 and 2013.

"We are excited to have Josh join our athletic staff," said Director of Athletics Becky Hall at the time of Burt's hire. "His passion, knowledge, and enthusiasm for golf were evident throughout the search process. His ability to teach, develop, and mentor bode well for our men's and women's golf programs now and in the future."

"I am honored to take over the golf programs at Kalamazoo College," Burt said. "Over the last five and a half years, I have had the privilege of working with many K alumni and golf team supporters. During that time, I gained great respect for the program and its history and look forward to continuing its legacy."

A native of Holt, Michigan, Burt was a standout golfer at Holt High School, twice earning First Team All-State honors along with an All-State Honorable Mention selection. He went on to play golf at the NCAA Division II level at Armstrong Atlantic State and Grand Valley State University. While at Grand Valley, Burt was a student-athletic committee representative and a 2008 Division II National Championship participant. He finished 12th at the GLIAC Championships in 2008 and 2009 and earned All-GLIAC Honorable Mention honors in 2008.

"Being a former collegiate golfer, I know how important a coach's role can be to the success of the team and the development of the players," Burt said. "I hope to have a positive impact on these student-athletes as they navigate both academics and athletics. My passion as a golf professional has always been in player development, which this position allows me to focus on with both the men's and women's programs. After meeting with the players, I am excited to work with this great group of student-athletes and help guide them into the future. Kalamazoo College has a tremendous history and a great athletic staff, and I look forward to joining the team!"

Burt graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2012 with a degree in sports management. He and his wife, Codie, reside in Kalamazoo with their dog, Dante.
