Men's Lacrosse Defeated by Trine

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team fell Friday night to Trine 9-8 in a back and forth battle into the last seconds of the game. 

Kalamazoo got off to an early 4-1 lead after one quarter, including back-to-back goals from Jack Jesko and a last-second shot from Jake Nugent to begin the game.  

The teams played to a 2-1 score in the second period as the Hornets held on to a 5-3 lead at halftime. 

Jack Loveland scored a goal on Kalamazoo's first possession of the third quarter to earn a hat trick. Trine responded with two straight goals before the Hornets ended the quarter with another goal from Loveland and a man-up goal from Jakob Torzewski

The Thunder outscored the Hornets 4-0 in the final quarter to tie things up at 8-8. With 50 seconds left in regulation they scored again to earn their first lead of the game, securing a last-minute win. 

Jack Loveland led Kalamazoo with four goals including two in the third quarter. 

Jack Jesko scored two goals while Jakob Torzewski and Jake Nugent each had one. 

JJ Ohren-Hoeft collected six ground balls for the Hornets. Nugent and Brandon Wright had four each. 

Goalie Kiah Holdsworth had a career-high 14 saves in goal for the Hornets. 

Kalamazoo returns to action on March 18 as they travel to Albion for a 7 p.m. game.
