Men's Lacrosse Defeats Marian

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team held on to defeat Marian University (Wis.) 16-15 on MacKenzie Field Wednesday night.

The high-scoring affair saw two goals in the first two minutes, and 10 after the first quarter (tied 5-5). The score was tied again at halftime, 9-9, and at the end of the third quarter, 12-12.

Neither team led by more than two goals in the game. 

Kalamazoo went up 16-14 with 4:06 left in the fourth. The Sabres made it a one-goal game with 53 seconds remaining, but were unable to score on their final possession.

Marian held a 50-44 advantage in shots, although the Hornets led 35-23 in shots on goal.

Dylan McGorisk led the Hornets with four goals and two assists. Jack Loveland scored three goals with three assists.

Jake Nugent led the team with seven ground balls.

Dylan Wickey was credited with eight saves in goal.

The Hornets are back in action at home on Saturday, March 5 at noon taking on Augustana University of Illinois.
