KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team lost 12-5 to Augustana University at home on Saturday.
The visiting Vikings scored the first goal just over a minute into the contest. The hornets evened it up a minute later while scoring four straight to take a 4-1 lead with 8:08 left in the first quarter. Augustana scored again at 4:21 and trailed 4-2 after one. Augustana scored the only two goals of the second quarter to make it 4-4 heading into halftime.
Augustana scored the first two in the third before Kalamazoo got on the board again with 9:04 remaining, and trailed 6-5 after three. Augustana scored six in the fourth to take the 12-5 victory.
Augustana outshot Kalamazoo 45-30 overall, including 22-13 on goal. The Vikings also earned 46 ground balls compared to 22 by the Hornets.
Cam VanGalder led Kalamazoo with two goals. Logan Gillis and Eli Routt each had a goal and an assist. Vincent Tremonti scored the other goal for the Hornets.
Kalamazoo is back in action Wednesday, March 9 at Benedictine University (Ill.).
