LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team played its second road game in as many days against Lake Forest on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 18). The Hornets came back twice, the first being in the first half, tying the game heading into halftime. The second came in the 85th minute to knot things up at 2-2, which ended up being the final score.

Kalamazoo was on the offensive attack in the first half, gaining seven shots compared to the Foresters' two. However, after Lake Forest scored the first game goal in the 29th minute, the Hornets quickly responded in the 33rd minute to even the game up at one goal a piece. Tony Yazbeck scored his first goal of the season unassisted, getting his second shot of the half to hit the back of the net. Another two Kalamazoo shots had a chance at scoring, but the game remained tied at the half.

The game was back and forth in the second half, with the first 35 minutes going by quietly. Then, in the 80th minute, the Foresters scored the go-ahead goal, putting pressure on the Hornets. The team responded accordingly, scoring another game-tying goal five minutes later. Chad Ewing linked up with Emilio Romo, sending a pass over to Romo that he put away for his second goal of the year. Both teams had seven shots a piece in the half, but the game ended tied at two when the final buzzer sounded.

Gavin Houtkooper (2-4-2) gained four saves on six chances while also fending off a plethora of Forester corner kicks. Kalamazoo totaled more shots (14-9) and fouls (17-13) in the game, while Lake Forest had more saves (8-4) and corner kicks (8-2).

After five straight games on the road, Kalamazoo will return to MacKenzie Field for a non-conference matchup against Illinois Tech on Wednesday (Sept. 21), beginning at 7 p.m
