ANGOLA, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team traveled to face Trine in an MIAA match-up on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 8). The Hornets came out and scored the first goal before the Thunder scored the next two. With time running out, Henry Plumstead scored the game-tying goal to secure a 2-2 tie.

The Hornets and the Thunder exchanged shots in the first half as one team tried to net the first goal. Then, in the 29th minute, Kalamazoo broke through to take the initial lead. Jordon Larco took a shot that the goalkeeper saved, but Emilio Romo followed up with a shot off the rebound for the goal. Romo's third goal of the season gave Kalamazoo a 1-0 lead heading into the break.

Things turned quickly in the second half as Trine tied the game up in the 50th minute off a corner kick. Then, the Thunder kept pressing and eventually took the lead in the 77th minute. The Hornets were up against a tall task as Trine dropped back defensively to protect the lead. Kalamazoo showed fight after tying the game back up in the 89th minute to secure the 2-2 tie. Travis Barclay played a ball into Henry Plumstead, who put away the equalizer for his first career collegiate goal.

Gavin Houtkooper made four saves on six opportunities in the game. Trine finished with more shots (14-10) and corner kicks (7-0), while Kalamazoo had more saves (4-2), and both teams had 16 fouls each.
