KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee announced on Tuesday that Tim Karubas of the men's swimming and diving team was named Hornet of the Week for his performance at the Olivet meet over the weekend.
Karubas had a big week for Kalamazoo as he earned a team-high four first-place finishes, two individual and two as part of the relay teams. He won the 50 and 100 freestyle races with times of 22.52 and 50.26, respectively. In the 400 medley relay event, he split 49.7 in the freestyle leg, while completing his laps in 49.9 seconds as part of the 400 freestyle relay.
Kalamazoo won against Olivet 160-75 on Saturday, winning or posting the top time in 13 events.
Karubas and the Hornets return to the pool on Friday, Feb. 12 at Hope College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
