Men's Swimming & Diving Honors Seniors

Head shot photos of Max Ambs, John Crane, and Matt Howrey.

The Kalamazoo College men's swimming and diving team honored seniors Max Ambs, John Crane, and Matt Howrey during their final seasons of competition.

Max Ambs

Parents: Lori and Ken Ambs
Hometown: Portage, Michigan
Majors: Chemistry and Computer Science
Future Plans: My plans are to take a gap year after graduation to work in a lab under my SIP mentor while applying to graduate school.
Favorite Memory: The deep-sea fishing trip sophomore year where I caught a huge mahi-mahi that we used to make fish tacos for the whole team as part of our yearly taco dinner during the training trip. Thanks again to Jay for stealing my fishing pole so that I could catch the big one with his instead!
Advice to the underclassmen: Having a hobby outside of the team is a fantastic outlet to de-stress with, and I recommend everyone find something that they can enjoy doing in their free time.

John Crane

Parents: Tom and Laura Crane
Hometown: Ann Arbor, Michigan
Major: Economics
Future Plans: No future plans currently
Favorite Memory: Junior year mile Mondays
Advice to underclassmen: What you choose to do with this opportunity is solely up to you. Focus only on the things that you can control, and never underestimate your potential. And don't forget to savor each moment. It'll be gone before you know it.

Matt Howrey

Parents Names: Gail and Rick Howrey
Hometown: Keller, Texas
Major: Chemistry
Future Plans: Attend medical school and become a physician
Favorite Memory: Pulling an all-nighter the night before training trip each year by watching movies and playing games with teammates before leaving at 2:30 a.m. for the airport.
Advice to the Underclassmen: Have fun and enjoy every moment you have with the team. Four years go by way too fast.
