Sam Ankley of the Kalamazoo College men's swimming & diving team was selected as the MIAA Men's Diver of the Week on Monday (Dec. 5). This is the seventh time in his four-year career that Ankley has earned diver of the week honors, including two this season.

The men's swimming & diving team competed in the three-day Calvin Invitational meet this past weekend. The event consisted of three NCAA DII and two NCAA DIII opponents. The Hornets ended up with 546 points as 33 competitors made the finals in their events.

Ankley was the best men's diver overall at the meet in the event, finishing with the largest point total at 849. He took the top spot in the 3-meter with 455.75 points while finishing third in the 1-meter at 393.25 points. In the 11-dive event, the only two divers that finished ahead of Ankley in the 1-meter were from Grand Valley and Northern Michigan.

This event was the first time the divers did 11 dives instead of six this season. Ankley's career-best for 11 dives is 461.40 points in the 1-meter and 486.80 points in the 3-meter. He is also close to his personal bests for six dives, with his bests being 281.30 for the 1-meter and 277.50 in the 3-meter.

Kalamazoo has completed its 2022 portion of the schedule and will be back in action by hosting the Michigan-Illinois Quad on Jan. 14.
