Sam Ankley of the Kalamazoo College men's swimming & diving team was selected as the MIAA Men's Diver of the Week on Monday (Jan. 23). This is the ninth time in his four-year career that Ankley has earned diver of the week honors, including four this season.

The men's swimming & diving team traveled up to Holland, Mich., to compete in the Hope Tri-Meet with Olivet also participating on Jan. 20. In two dual events, the Hornets defeated the Comets 178-48 before falling to the Flying Dutchmen 155-87. The Hornets had 17 top-four finishes in the 13 events.

Ankley swept the podium at the tri-meet, finishing first in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Both events were six-dive events, with Ankley setting career bests on the day. He ended up with a score of 300.05 in the 1-meter, which is the highest score in the MIAA for the past three seasons. Ankley scored 284.4 in the 3-meter event to total 584.45 points for the weekend.

On top of the two new personal bests, Ankley's career-best for 11-dive events is 461.40 points in the 1-meter and 486.80 points in the 3-meter.

Kalamazoo will next compete in a dual at Alma on Saturday (Jan. 20), beginning at 1 p.m.
