Men's Swimming & Diving Captures Dual Win over Alma

ALMA, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's swimming and diving team wrapped up the regular season with a road dual at Alma on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 28). The Hornets defeated the Scots 201-60 as K had a first-place finisher in 15 of the 16 events.

In the diving events, Sam Ankley won the 1-meter with a score of 305.4, while Luke Middlebrook took the 3-meter with 290.03 points. The Hornets took first in both relay races as Ben Pickrel, Erik Danielson, Oliver Tye, and Tim Karubas swam a 1:41.21 in the 200 Medley, and then Daniel Koselka, Zach Butters, Karubas, and Pickrel touched the wall at 1:31.54 in the 200 Free. 

A couple of Hornets claimed two individual wins on the day. First, Danielson won the 100 Breast with a 1:02.99 and then took the 200 Breast at 2:23.37. Then, Ethan DeNeen went 2:14.25 in the 200 Fly and 4:40.37 in the 400 IM. 

Finishing out the wins on the day was Butters in the 100 Back (56.03), Trustin Christopher in the 50 Free (22.79), Karubas in the 100 Free (50.12), Fuzail Ahmed in the 200 Back (2:05.02), Noah Eckenroth in the 500 Free (4:56.25), and Alden Ehrhardt in the 100 Fly (54.20).

The Hornets will next compete at the MIAA Championships on Feb. 15-18, as Calvin hosts the event.
