HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team won its season opener 6-3 at Hope College in a non-conference matchup Friday afternoon.
Kalamazoo won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles (Gabe Vidinas/Peter Fitzgerald) and 8-4 at No. 3 doubles (Casey Johnson/Dylan Drier) before falling 8-7(2) at No. 1 doubles.
The Hornets clinched the team win with straight-set singles wins at No. 5 (Drier, 6-0, 6-2), No. 4 (Vidinas, 6-1, 6-2), and No. 6 (Fitzgerald, 6-1, 6-2). Jai Banerji also won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
Kalamazoo is currently scheduled to compete next at Calvin on Wednesday, March 31.
