The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its final 2022 national and regional rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point on June 8.

As a team, the Hornets ranked eighth in the Central Region. Kalamazoo finished 14-8 overall (7-0 MIAA) while winning the MIAA regular season and tournament championships. The Hornets beat Nazareth in the first round of the NCAA III Championships before falling to Wisconsin-Whitewater in the second round.

Ian Yi finished the year ranked 23rd nationally and sixth in the region in singles. The senior from Ann Arbor, Mich. (Pioneer) was 14-10 overall in singles and 5-0 in MIAA play. Yi was named to the All-MIAA First Team for the third time, MIAA MVP for the second time and All-American in singles for the third time. He was twice named MIAA Player of the Week and advanced to the Round of 16 (Second Round) at the NCAA III Singles Championships.

Yi and Peter Fitzgerald ranked ninth in the region in doubles. Yi teamed up with junior Peter Fitzgerald (Petoskey, Mich. / International School of Brussels) for a 15-10 overall record and 7-0 in league play. Fitzgerald also earned All-MIAA First Team honors and was selected as an MIAA Player of the Week.

The ITA National Rankings include the Top-40 Teams, Top-50 Singles Players, and Top-25 Doubles Teams from across the country, while Regional Rankings include Top-20 Teams, Top-25 Singles Players, and Top-15 Doubles Teams from each Region.
