Softball loses doubleheader to Olivet

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader on its field dedication day, losing 8-2 to Olivet in the opener and 2-1 in the second game.

Olivet scored runs in each of the first three innings to take a 4-0 lead. Kalamazoo scored one in the fourth and trailed 5-2 after six innings. The visiting Comets added three runs in the seventh before closing out the 8-2 win.

Olivet had 10 hits in the game compared to five for Kalamazoo. The Hornets left eight runners on base in the game.

Maddy Sinkovich, Querubin Dubois, Paige Maguire and Rachel Epstein each had a single. Abby Anderson had a double and drove in a run. Kennedy Boulton also had an RBI.

Olivet scored a run in the bottom of the second, but Kalamazoo quickly evened the score in the top of the third. Olivet broke the 1-1 tie with a run in the bottom of the sixth and retired Kalamazoo in order in the seventh to end the game.

Each team had five hits in the contest.

Querubin Dubois had a triple and an RBI. Maddy Sinkovich, Dana Page, Erin DuRoss and Paige Maguire each had a single.

Kalamazoo closes out its regular season with a doubleheader against North Park College on Sunday. Both games will be played at The Ballpark in Rosemont, Ill.
