Softball Falls in Opening Doubleheader at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team lost both games of its season-opening doubleheader at Hope College on Tuesday, 6-1 and 15-1.

Game One

Kalamazoo took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Lucy Hart singled home Kelsey Diekman. Hope evened the score in the bottom of the first before adding three runs in the third and two in the sixth.

Hope had nine hits in the game compared to six for Kalamazoo.

Kelsey Diekman was 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Lucy Hart singled with an RBI. Lizzy Rottenberk had a double and Sammi Luzadre had a triple.

Game Two

Hope scored five runs in the top of the first inning. Nina Szalkiewicz put the Hornets on the board with a home run in the bottom of the first. Hope added two runs in the second before scoring eight in the fifth.

Sam Moss singled for Kalamazoo's other hit in the game.

Up Next

Kalamazoo is scheduled to travel to Albion on Friday, March 26 where the Hornets are scheduled to face Olivet and Albion.
