LEESBURG, Fla. - The Kalamazoo College softball team split a pair of games in Florida on Friday, falling 1-0 to Beloit before beating UW-La Crosse 3-1.
Kalamazoo vs. Beloit
Beloit defeated Kalamazoo 1-0 in the first game of the day Friday. The Buccaneers scored the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Beloit had three hits in the game. Lizzy Rottenberk had Kalamazoo's only hit. The Hornets also had three walks, giving them two runners on in the first and two in the fifth.
Jordan Cook struck out four while taking the loss on the mound.
Kalamazoo vs. UW La Crosse
Kalamazoo trailed 1-0 after two innings before scoring twice in the third. The Hornets added an insurance run in the fifth.
Five Hornets had a hit in the game. Lucy Hart and Bella Caza each drove in a run.
Sam Moss earned the win on the mound, striking out four while walking none in seven innings.
