Softball Drops MIAA Opener to Hope

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team lost its MIAA opening doubleheader 13-3 and 7-6 to Hope on Thursday.

Game One

Hope won the opener 13-3 in six innings. Kalamazoo led 3-1 after the first, but Hope scored 12 runs over the next five innings to take the win.

Hope had 14 hits in the game compared to seven by Kalamazoo.

Lucy Hart had two hits with an RBI. Nikki Gorder also had two hits.

Lizzy Rottenberk had a double. Julia Rambo and Stefanie Nizzardini each drove in a run.

Game Two

Kalamazoo led 4-2 after three innings and 6-2 after six. Hope scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh, including the game-winning RBI double to right center. 

Hope had 10 hits compared to Kalamazoo's eight.

Lizzy Rottenberk had two hits with a double and three RBIs. 

Lucy Hart had two hits with an RBI. 

Julia Rambo and Nikki Gorder each drove in a run.

Kalamazoo is back in action Saturday, April 16 at Alma.
