KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team lost a pair of games to Calvin at home on Friday, 3-2 in nine innings and 11-6.
Game One
Calvin won the opener 3-2 in nine innings. Kalamazoo scored a run in the first and a run in the fifth before Calvin tied it with two runs in the sixth. In extra innings, Calvin pushed the go-ahead run across in the top of the ninth.
Calvin had 10 hits in the game compared to seven by Kalamazzoo.
Lizzy Rottenberk led the Hornets with three hits including a double.
Sam Moss and Brynna Garden each had two hits. Garden also drove in a run.
Game Two
Calvin Kalamazoo led 6-5 after the top of the fifth, but Calvin took an 11-6 lead with six runs in the bottom half. The Hornets went down in order in the sixth and seventh, ending the game with the 11-6 final.
Calvin had 11 hits in the game compared to nine by Kalamazoo.
Lizzy Rottenberk had two hits with two RBIs. Her second hit broke the school record for hits in a season with 44.
Lucy Hart had two hits with an RBI. Bella Caza also drove in a run.
Kalamazoo is scheduled to host Adrian in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
