KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball was defeated 80-38 by the visiting Albion College Britons Wednesday night at Anderson Athletic Center.

Albion jumped out to a 25-7 lead after the first quarter, but the Hornets cut the lead to ten, 34-24, on a Laila Vincent layup with 2:45 remaining in the half. The Britons then closed out the quarter on a 5-0 run to take a 15-point lead into the break.

Kalamazoo's Kelsey Diekman opened the third quarter by converting a layup, getting fouled, and sinking the free throw. The old-fashioned three-point play brought the Hornets (3-10, 1-4 MIAA) to within 12, but that was the closest K would get the rest of the evening. Albion outscored the Hornets 27-4 the rest of the quarter to take a commanding 66-31 lead into the fourth.

Vincent made all four of her three-point attempts in leading the way for the Hornets with 16 points. She added four rebounds, a steal, and a block, and Diekman chipped in 12 points, two rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Kaelyn Arlington grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

Albion, which improved to 6-0 in conference play, bested Kalamazoo in field-goal percentage (52%-28%), rebounds (49-27), and assists (14-7).

The Hornets will face a quick turnaround, hosting St. Mary's on Thursday for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
