KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated Saturday afternoon by No. 2 Hope College, 94-23, on Senior Day at Anderson Athletic Center.

Before the game began, the Hornets honored their seniors, players Catie Stamper, Darby Scott, and Kaytlyn Tidey, and team manager Baylee Bacheller. After the game began, Tidey swished a three-pointer to give the Hornets a 3-0 lead just 25 seconds in.

Hope quickly showed why they are so highly regarded in the polls, scoring the game's next 16 points before Kaelyn Arlington's layup brought the Hornets back to within 11, 16-5, with 3:10 remaining in the quarter. Hope then went a 10-2 run to close out the first with a 26-7 lead.

Things didn't get any easier in the second quarter, as Hope outscored the Hornets 19-7 to grab a 45-14 lead at the halftime break. The Flying Dutch then used a 31-3 third-quarter advantage to leave no doubt to the outcome heading into the fourth.

Arlington and Tidey paced the Hornets with seven points apiece. Arlington and Laila Vincent each grabbed five rebounds to lead Kalamazoo, and Sara English had a team-high two assists and was one of three Hornets with three steals.

Hope shot 50% overall from the field (33-66) and from behind the three-point arc (14-28), while K shot 18% overall (8-44) and 14% from distance (2-14). Hope had significant advantages in rebounds (48-30), assists (25-5), steals (22-11), and turnovers (16-34).

Next up for Kalamazoo (4-21, 2-14 MIAA) is the first round of the MIAA tournament next week, when they will face a to-be-determined opponent.
