The 2022 Kalamazoo College women's basketball team will tip off its season with a road game on Nov. 12 at Westminster. The Hornets will look to improve on their eighth-place finish in the MIAA last season. The team began practice on Oct. 15 and will have an exhibition game before starting the regular season.

Schedule Breakdown

  • The Hornets begin their season in the Westminster Tournament on Nov. 12-13.

  • Six of the next eight games will be in the Anderson Athletic Center. The home opener will be against Anderson (Ind.) on Nov. 19.

  • The MIAA season begins on Nov. 30 with a road game against Olivet. The Hornets will play every MIAA team on the road and at home.

  • The Hornets will wrap up the 2022 portion of the schedule with two road games at Defiance and Grace Christian.

  • Kalamazoo has four home and four away games in the first eight contests after the calendar turns to 2023.

  • The Hornets' final regular season home game and senior day will be on Feb. 15 against Calvin.

  • The regular season will conclude on Feb. 18 with a road game at Hope.

Roster Breakdown

  • Kalamazoo returns seven players from the 2021-22 squad and will have six new additions to the team to increase the total to 13.

  • Seniors Kylah Davis and Greta Wedge lead a team with three juniors, three sophomores, and five freshmen.

Returning Statistical Leaders

  • In her first season as a Hornet, Laila Vincent led the team with 11.4 points per game with a 35.2% three-point percentage. She also led the team with 7.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.

  • Kaelyn Arlington, who averaged 8.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, is the second part of the returning forward duo.

  • Jackie Brines and Sara English also return after seeing significant time in the starting lineup last season.

Head Coach Katie Miller

Coach Miller returns to Kalamazoo for her 12th season as head coach of the Hornets. Miller coached the Hornets in two of their most successful seasons since the early 2000s, with 12 wins in 2013-14 and 16 wins in 2014-15. In addition to leading the Kalamazoo women's basketball team, Miller also serves as Kalamazoo College's senior woman administrator and chair of the physical education department.

Quoting Coach Miller

"We are looking forward to this team taking that next step. As our top two scorers and rebounders return, we expect Kaelyn and Laila to step up by leading our team game in and out. We have great leadership and team chemistry, both being crucial to our success. Our returners are ready to take on bigger roles and have worked really hard in the off-season for that opportunity. That extra effort, combined with our hard-working newcomers, will mean good things for the Hornets. This team is energized and ready to make an impact."
