Women's Basketball Falls to Dominican

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost 63-60 at home to Dominican University (Ill). Saturday afternoon.

The score was tied 14-14 at the end of the first quarter. Kalamazoo took a 27-26 lead into halftime. 

Dominican outscored Kalamazoo 19-15 in the third to lead 46-41. Kalamazoo cut the deficit to one with nine seconds left. A pair of Dominican free throws made it a three-point game with six seconds remaining, but a Kalamazoo turnover ended the Hornets' opportunity to tie the game.

Dominican shot 36.8 percent overall while holding Kalamazoo to 27.8 percent. Dominican made 20-of-29 free throws compared to 18-of-29 by Kalamazoo. The visiting Stars held a 50-48 advantage in rebounds. Kalamazoo had a 16-8 advantage on the offensive end.

Laila Vincent scored 16 points with 10 rebounds and two steals. Jackie Brines added 16 points with four rebounds.

Kaelyn Arlington finished with seven points. Josee Cooke and Macy Ivins each scored six points off the bench.

Kylah Davis grabbed eight rebounds in the contest.

Kalamazoo is back in action Monday, Dec. 19 at Defiance College.
