Women's Basketball Defeated at Grace Christian

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated 89-73 at Grace Christian University Friday afternoon.

Kalamazoo jumped out to a 10-2 lead early and led 17-12 after the first quarter. 

Grace took a 20-19 lead early in the second quarter. the teams exchanged leads until entering halftime tied up at 39-39.

Grace scored the first 11 points of the third quarter and led 61-46 going into the fourth. Kalamazoo cut the deficit to 11 a couple times in the fourth, but was unable to get any closer in the defeat.

The host Tigers shot 38 percent from the field, while Kalamazoo shot 33.3 percent overall. Grace made 29-of-36 free throws compared to 20-of-28 by the Hornets. Kalamazoo held a 52-46 advantage in rebounds, including 22-17 on the offensive end.

Laila Vincent led the Hornets with a career-high 32 points and 15 rebounds for her eighth career double-double. Her 32 points tied for sixth-highest total in school history.

Sara English finished with 11 points, three rebounds and two assists. 

Kaelyn Arlington recorded her eighth career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Hornets return to MIAA play on Jan. 4 when they travel so Saint Mary's College for a 7 p.m. start.
