The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team had a trio of players selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced on Tuesday (Feb. 21). The student-athletes selected were Maddie Coffman, Sara English, and Jaelyn Horn.

To be selected for the award, the student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, have played at least 50% of their team's competitions, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Coffman was a part of the regular rotation for the Hornets, playing in all 25 games and making 11 starts. In 22 minutes per game, she averaged 2.4 rebounds, 2.0 points, and 1.2 steals per game. Currently majoring in biology-chemistry, she holds a cumulative GPA of 3.78.

As the team's primary point guard, English started all 25 games for Kalamazoo. Playing nearly 30 minutes per game, she led the team with a 30% three-point percentage and 1.2 assists per game. She is a history and Spanish dual major and has a 3.72 GPA.

Horn was one of the first players off the bench for the Hornets, playing in all 25 games and making six starts. She averaged 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 points per game in 19.6 minutes of action. Majoring in philosophy, she has a cumulative 3.58 GPA.

Now that the three student-athletes have made the district team, they will move on to the CSC Academic All-American ballot, which will be announced in March.
