Kalamazoo Falls to Saint Mary's

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team fell 18-17 in a close battle with Saint Mary's on Saturday night at MacKenzie Field. 

The Hornets opened the game with an immediate goal from Rose Bogard after the first draw control of the contest, followed by a goal from Rachel Madar at 27:15 to go up 2-0. The teams traded goals before Saint Mary's was able to score three straight and take the lead, 6-4. Kalamazoo cut into the deficit with a goal from Leah Tardiff followed up by two back-to-back shots from Bogard and Madar to take a 7-7 tie into halftime. 

Kalamazoo opened the second half with three straight goals from Madar, Bogard and Baumann to take back the lead, 12-10. In the final 18 minutes, Saint Mary's outscored the Hornets 8-5 to hold on to a narrow 18-17 win. Bogard and Madar scored three more times in the half and Lilly Baumann scored twice.  

Rose Bogard set a new career-high in goals scored with six, adding seven ground balls.   

Rachel Madar scored five goals, while Lilly Baumann had three. 

The team celebrated senior day today and honored their seven graduating student-athletes: Lilly Baumann, Jordan Reichenbach, Gwen Davis, Hannah Wolfe, Leah Tardiff, Bekah Halley and Rachel Madar

The Hornets (4-7) return to action on April 14 at Trine for a 7 p.m. game.
