KALAMAZOO, Mich. - For the second week in a row, the Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team's Rachel Madar was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week.
The senior midfielder from Dewitt, Mich. (DeWitt HS) scored five goals in Kalamazoo's narrow 18-17 loss to Saint Mary's on Saturday. Along with those five goals, Madar won 19 draw controls to set a new single-game Kalamazoo College record. The feat also put her at over 400 career draw controls won, and she ranks second in all of NCAA Division III in draw controls won on the season with 96.
Madar now leads the team through eight games with 42 goals. Her average of 5.25 goals per game is an MIAA best. She also ranks third in the conference in shots attempted and total goals.
The Hornets (4-7) return to action on April 14 at Trine for a 7 p.m. game.
