KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team won 4-0 on Tuesday against Olivet for its third straight win of the season.

Junior Kai Ketola started out the scoring for the Hornets with a goal in the corner of the net at the 19th minute. It was just the third shot attempt of the game for Kalamazoo and Ketola's first goal of the season.

The Hornets went up 2-0 with a goal from Destiny Garcia early in the second half, followed up quickly by a successful penalty kick to the back of the net by Garcia in the 53rd minute.

Ketola came up again with a goal for Kalamazoo, assisted by Joy Hunziker, in the 66th minute to extend the Hornets' lead to 4-0.

"To get two goals in the first ten minutes of the game was huge," Head Coach Bryan Goyings said. "Emme DeConinck provided a spark in the midfield and we really created some dangerous chances throughout the second half."

Kalamazoo outshot the Comets with a season-high 28 goals attempted, holding Olivet to just one shot in-game.

Destiny Garcia led Kalamazoo with two goals scored in as many minutes. She leads the team on the season with four goals.

Joy Hunziker picked up her first assist of the season.

Alexis Nesbitt made her first appearance in goal for the Hornets.

Freshman Anna Murphy got her first career start for Kalamazoo in today's contest. Freshman Frances Trimble also saw action for the first time this season.

"Lauren McColley may not have shown up on the scoresheet but she made some great attacking runs and drew the penalty kick that resulted in the third goal," Goyings said. "It was nice to finally play a home game but we will need to rest and prepare for another MIAA road contest on Friday."

The Hornets (3-0) are scheduled to play their next game at Trine on Friday, April 9 at 3 p.m.
