KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team defeated #3 Hope 2-0 on Wednesday night, good for a trip to the final round of the MIAA Tournament.

"I am extremely proud of the team and the complete effort they put forth tonight," Head Coach Bryan Goyings said. "Games against Hope our always a battle, and I thought our team rose to the occasion."

Kai Ketola came up with a goal for the Hornets in the 27th minute. Olivia DePauli set up the pass to give Ketola the opening for a kick into the left corner of the net.

Kalamazoo took a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Hornets outshot Hope 6-2 in the first 45 minutes of play.

The Hornets went up again with a goal in the 60th minute when Ketola sent a pass to Destiny Garcia on the far side of the field, who had a long goal into the corner of the net above Hope's keeper.

Kalamazoo outshot its opponent 15-10 with five shots made on goal.

Goalkeeper Hannah Wolfe was a defensive wall for the Hornets, helping to earn the shutout win with four saves.

Kalamazoo will advance to play on the road at No. 1 Calvin on Friday, April 23.

"We all know the challenges that teams have faced over the past 12 months. So grateful for the opportunity to lead this group into competition one more time on Friday against an excellent Calvin team."
