KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Kai Ketola of the Kalamazoo College women's soccer team was named this week's SAAC Hornet of the Week on Tuesday.
Ketola was a dominant offensive force for the Hornets last week on their journey to their second straight MIAA Championship appearance. On Monday against Trine, she scored two of the team's four goals in the contest, en route to a 4-0 victory. She also recorded an assist helping out on a goal by Joy Hunziker.
On Wednesday against Hope in the semifinals, Ketola scored the first goal for the Hornets with a successful shot in the 27th minute. She was credited with an assist on the second goal of the game, scored by Destiny Garcia. Kalamazoo went on to defeat Hope 2-0 and head to the finals.
Despite a 3-0 defeat in the MIAA Tournament final round against Calvin, the Hornets concluded a strong season with Ketola playing a big part in their success. She was second on the team with five goals scored, and finished fourth in the league in points and shots attempted.
Ketola was named to the All-MIAA First Team on Monday for her efforts.
The Hornets concluded their season with a 6-3 overall record, 4-2 in MIAA play.
