KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team played its second of three straight MIAA home games against Hope on Tuesday evening (Oct. 4) at MacKenzie Field. The Flying Dutch scored their first goal halfway through the first half and two more late in the game for the 3-0 win over the Hornets.

The two teams battled defensively in the first half, as both offenses took only six shots. However, Hope scored their first goal in the 26th minute after the ball bounced around in the box. After that goal, the Flying Dutch defense packed it in, making it difficult for Kalamazoo to get any attack going.

Following Hope taking a 1-0 lead into the half, the Flying Dutch possessed the ball for most of the second half. Their 13 shots turned into two more goals in the 82nd and 84th minutes. The Hornets tried to get some offense going in the final minutes but ultimately fell by three goals.

Lexi Nesbitt (4-4-2) made two saves on five opportunities in the defeat. Hope led in the statistical categories of shots (13-4), saves (4-2), and corner kicks (5-3), plus had more fouls (17-7).

The Hornets will finish up their three-game homestand on Saturday (Oct. 8) against Olivet, with kickoff scheduled for 12 p.m.
