Camille Misra of the Kalamazoo College women's swimming & diving team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Wednesday (Dec. 7).
The women's swimming & diving team competed in the three-day Calvin Invitational meet this past weekend. The event consisted of three NCAA DII, two NCAA DIII, and one NAIA opponent. The Hornets ended up with 510 points as 23 competitors made the finals in their events.
Misra competed in seven events on the weekend, making the finals in three and helping in four relays. The relays she swam in were the 200 Free, 400 Free, 200 Medley, and 400 Medley. Individually, Misra's best race was the 100 Back, where she placed fifth with a time of 57.06. This time was a personal best and broke the swimming & diving team record. She also took 13th in the 200 Back and 16th in the 50 Free. The 24.24 time in the 50 Free was also a personal best for Misra.
Misra has been named MIAA Swimmer of the Week twice in her career. In her first season, she was a member of the 400 Free Relay, which finished second, and the 200 Free Relay, which finished third, at the MIAA Championships. The following season, she captured an individual honor by placing second in the 100 Back at the MIAA Championships.
The Hornets will not compete again until after the new year when the program hosts the Michigan-Illinois Quad on Jan. 14 in the Natatorium.
