Kyle Oberhill joined the Kalamazoo College staff as men’s and women’s diving coach in 2009-10.
Oberhill competed as a Hornet diver as a member of the 2002 and 2003 MIAA championship teams and also competed at the NCAA Championships in 2002.
Oberhill has been coaching diving in the Kalamazoo area since 2003 with several organizations including Hackett Catholic Central High School, Mattawan High School, and Kalamazoo Central High School, as well as the West Michigan Diving Association club diving program.
In addition, Oberhill has worked with several world-class Olympic diving coaches at camps and clinics including former University of Michigan diving coach, Dick Kimball, current Indiana University diving coach, Dr. Jeff Huber, and former USA Diving National Training Center head coach, John Wingfield.
Oberhill completed his master’s degree in Coaching Sport Performance at Western Michigan University in 2012.
Men’s Team Accomplishments:
Helped guide the Hornet men's team to an MIAA championship in 2011. The Hornets repeated as league champions in 2012 and finished 13th overall at the NCAA Championships.
In 2012, freshman William Guedes earned his first trip to the NCAA Championships which resulted in an All-American performance by placing fifth on 1M and an honorable mention All-American performance by placing 11th on 3M. Guedes was the first male diver to compete at the NCAA Championships since 2003.
In 2013, sophomore William Guedes won the NCAA III championship in the 3M event. Guedes also finished third in the 1M and was named NCAA III Diver of the Year. Guedes won both events at the MIAA Championships and was recognized as MIAA Diver of the Year. Sophomore Elliot Litman finished second in both events at the MIAA Championships and competed in both events at the NCAA III Championships.
Women’s Team Accomplishments:
In 2012, senior Erin Campbell earned her first trip to the NCAA Championships which resulted in an All-American performance by placing sixth on 1M and an honorable mention All-American performance by placing 12th on 3M. Campbell was the first female diver to compete at the NCAA Championships in over a decade.
