Volleyball Falls in Season Opener at Albion

ALBION, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team lost its season opener in three sets at Albion College on Friday, 25-18, 25-10, 25-22.

Kalamazoo held an early lead in the first set but was unable to maintain the early momentum. In the third set, Kalamazoo trailed 17-8 before making a pair of five-point runs to make it 22-19. After losing the next point, Kalamazoo scored three straight to make it 23-22 before the Britons scored the final two to win the set and the match.

Albion hit .343 in the match compared to .168 by Kalamazoo. 

Lindsey Nedd led the Hornets with 10 kills and a .348 hitting percentage. Megan Williams and Ashley Rill each had five kills while Madi Goodman finished with four.

Rorie Dougherty tallied 22 assists while Taylor Ferguson led the team with 11 digs. With her digs tonight, Ferguson surpassed the 1,000 digs total for her career now with 1,009.

Kalamazoo returns to action on Wednesday, March 24 when the Hornets host Trine at 7 p.m.
