Volleyball Wins at Great Lakes Christian

LANSING, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team picked up its first win of the season Tuesday night in four sets at Great Lakes Christian College, 25-15, 15-25, 25-15, 25-14.

After a 7-7 tie early in the first set, Kalamazoo took a lead and led the rest of the way (25-15). Great Lakes responded in set two, gaining the lead after a 9-9 tie and holding it the rest of the set (15-25).

Kalamazoo led by double digits (14-4) in the third set and won by 10 again (25-15). The Hornets trailed early in the fourth before going up 10 again (20-10) and clinching the match with a 25-14 win.

Kalamazoo hit .305 in the match compared to .181 by the Crusaders.

Halley Johnson and Toni Koshmider each had eight kills to lead the Hornets offensively. Jacky LaFollette and Charlotte Ruiter both finished with seven kills.

Hannah VanderLugt added five kills.

Jana Molby led the team with 21 assist with three aces. Molly Horton had 14 assist with two aces.

Morgan Shearer had a team-high seven digs.

The Hornets are back in action Wednesday, Sept. 14 at Manchetser at 6:30 p.m.
