The Kalamazoo College volleyball team had three players selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced on Tuesday (Nov. 22). The student-athletes selected were Ann Lawrence, Sara Reathaford, and Charlotte Ruiter.

To be selected for the award, the student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, play at least 50% of their team's competitions, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Lawrence finished with 94 kills (1.62 kills per set) in 19 matches, which was third on the team. She also finished with 100 points, 25 digs, and 10 blocks on the season. Lawrence just finished her second season on the team and holds a 3.74 cumulative GPA with a major in psychology.

Reathaford rotated in as the second setter on the team, collecting 181 assists (2.97 assists per set) in 19 matches. She added 73 digs and 15 kills to her stat line as well. Reathaford finished her sophomore season with a 3.85 cumulative GPA and is double majoring in sociology and spanish.

Ruiter was the primary middle hitter for the Hornets, leading the team with 34 blocks and finishing second with 104 kills (1.60 kills per set) in 22 matches. She also had 123.5 points and 20 digs this season. Also double majoring in psychology and women, gender & sexuality, Ruiter has a 3.86 cumulative GPA.

Now that the three student-athletes have made the district team, they will move on to the CSC Academic All-American ballot, which will be announced in late December.
