Colleen Leonard ’12 returned to her alma mater as an assistant volleyball coach in 2022. She previously served as an assistant during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
Most recently, Coach Leonard has been coaching various club teams, which she did from 2012-19. Currently, she also works at Stryker in the human resources department. Before returning to Kalamazoo to coach from 2017-18, Coach Leonard served three seasons as an assistant coach and assistant equipment manager at Gettysburg, helping the Bullets to a 49-33 record over that span. She was also a graduate assistant coach for Otterbein from 2012-13, where the Cardinals posted a 53-16 record, won the program’s first Ohio Athletic Conference championship, and made two NCAA III Tournament appearances during that time.
Leonard was a four-year letter winner for the Hornets who earned All-MIAA First Team honors in her junior and senior seasons, with a second-team selection coming as a sophomore. She was on the MIAA Honor Roll for three years and was a captain her senior year. She finished her career with 1,175 kills, 933 digs, 202 assists, and 269 blocks.
After graduating from Kalamazoo College in 2012 with a business degree, Leonard earned a master’s degree in business administration at Otterbein in 2014. She studied abroad in Strasbourg, France, as a student at Kalamazoo. She currently resides in Kalamazoo with her dog, Opal.
