Hunter Bishop was introduced as Kalamazoo College's head volleyball coach on March 25, 2022.

Bishop led the Hornets to a sixth-place finish in the MIAA in his first season (2022), the program's best finish since 2014.

Bishop came to Kalamazoo College from Eureka College, where he also served as head volleyball coach. He brought experience from the club level up through the NCAA Division II level.

"I am excited to become a part of Kalamazoo College," Bishop said at the time of his hire. "I believe the potential for the volleyball program at K is limitless, with the opportunity for many talented volleyball athletes to compete at a high level while also receiving a top-notch education. K has many advantages for students during their four years that last a lifetime, and I'm excited to share what makes K unique on a local and national scale."

He previously was head coach at University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma, helping increase the program's kills per set by 50 percent and digs per set by 45 percent. He coached one All-Conference selection, and had five players on the conference's Presidential Honor Roll and eight on the Commissioner's Honor Roll.

As head coach at Southmoore High School in Oklahoma, Bishop led the team to its first OSSAA 6A Regional Final appearance in seven years. He also coached four All-Conference selections, two All-Region selections and one All-State selection.

Bishop also has experience coaching club volleyball with H2 Sports Worldwide and Illini Elite Volleyball Club.

A 2018 graduate of Drury University, Bishop worked as a student-assistant in the Panthers volleyball program. He assisted in training attackers and blockers, helping to finish in the top-50 for NCAA Division II in three statistical categories. He coached All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American players, including the NCAA leader in triple-doubles. He also assisted in the breakdown and analysis of video and statistics while helping run practices and pre-game drills.

"We are excited to welcome Hunter to the K family in his role as head volleyball coach," said Becky Hall, Director of Athletics. "He has a clear understanding of the needs of the student-athlete today in terms of what they need physically, mentally, and emotionally. He will embrace our incredible alumni and families, which are some of Kalamazoo College's greatest assets. Ultimately, Hunter has a clear understanding of the role of athletics within a highly academically rigorous institution and will advance and support our mission and purpose of competitive excellence. Our women will thrive under his leadership, mentorship, and skill development."
