Paige Anderson of the Kalamazoo College women's cross country team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Nov. 1).
The Hornets competed in the MIAA Championships this past weekend and finished in fourth for the second straight season. Only nationally ranked Hope, Calvin, and Trine finished ahead of the Hornets. The top seven runners for Kalamazoo also posted career bests in the race.
Anderson ran the best race of her career to date after setting a new personal best by 31 seconds. A time of 22:05 was good for seventh out of 128 runners, earning her All-MIAA First Team honors. Anderson was seven seconds away from cracking the top five and is the first Hornet to collect first team honors since Lauren Arquette did in 2005.
Kalamazoo will now turn its attention to the NCAA DIII Great Lakes Regional meet that will take place on Nov. 12 at the West Ottawa Golf Course.
