2015 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

Athletic Hall of Fame wall

Four individuals and two teams will be inducted into the Kalamazoo College Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the Alumni Association Awards ceremony on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015.

This year's individual inductees are John Brummet '71 (tennis), Amy S. Burgardt Morinelli '00 (soccer), Paul Ellis '10 (swimming) and Margaret Howrey Ferris '90 (swimming). The 1991 women's soccer and the 2002 men's swimming and diving teams are also being inducted.

Individual Inductees

John Brummet ’71 - Tennis

Four-time All-MIAA (1968-71); Three-time MIAA flight 1 singles champion (1969-71); One-time MIAA flight 2 singles champion (1968); Two-time MIAA flight 1 doubles champion; Two-time MIAA flight 2 doubles champion; MIAA MVP (1971); Three-time Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA) flight 1 singles champion; and Two-time GLCA flight 1 doubles champion.

Amy S. Burgardt Morinelli ’00 - Soccer

Second team All-American (1997); First team all-region (1997, 1999); All-MIAA first team (1997, 1999); K records for career goals against average (.737), career saves (358), career shutouts (30), and consecutive shutout minutes (930); Second in saves in a season (144), goals against average in a season (.510), and shutouts in a season (14).

Paul Ellis ’10 – Swimming
 
MIAA MVP (2009-10); MIAA champion in 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 200 free relay, 400 free relay; Four-time All-MIAA team (2007-10); 18-time MIAA champion. Set Kalamazoo College records in 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay; Four-time team MVP (2007-10), most valuable freshman (2007), NCAA champion in the 100 backstroke, two-time NCAA record holder in the 100 backstroke, and team captain (2009-10).

Margaret Howrey Ferris ’90 - Swimming

MIAA champion 400 individual medley (1987, 1990); MIAA champion 200 butterfly (1987, 1988, 1990); Team captain (1988, 1990); School records in 400 individual medley, 200 butterfly; All-MIAA (1987, 1988, 1990); Won the Knoechel Family Award for excellence in swimming and academic performance (1990).
