Rachael Gallap and Nick Ludka were selected as the Kalamazoo College Athletic Leadership Council's Hornets of the Week for their performances for the women's cross country and men's golf teams respectively.
Gallap, a sophomore from Kalamazoo, Mich. (Portage Northern HS), competed at the Lansing Community College Invitational last Friday and finished 29th overall. Her personal best time of 19:58.1 placed her first among MIAA runners from Alma, Calvin, Hope, and Olivet.
The Hornets finished in 13th place overall in the team standings at the event.
This is the first time Gallap has been named Hornet of the Week by the ALC. Fellow runner Lauren Arquette was named to the award previously this year.
Ludka, a senior from Saginaw, Mich. (Nouvel Catholic HS), posted a career best score of 69 at the MIAA Jamboree at Watermark Country Club. Ludka's 69 placed him in a tie for second place overall and led the Hornets to a third place finish.
His score is the lowest of his career and good for second best in Kalamazoo College history.
This marks the second time that Ludka has been honored by the Kalamazoo College ALC. Teammate Jackson Jones has also won the award this season.
Both Gallap and Ludka were also named MIAA Players of the week for their respective sports on Monday.
