The men's and women's tennis Most Valuable Professor graphic.

The 2022-2023 Kalamazoo College men's and women's tennis seniors have selected their Most Valuable Professors to recognize this season.

The Hornets selected Dr. Eric Nordmoe, Dr. Vijayan Sundararaj, Dr. Peter Erdi, and Dr. Bruce Mills.

Casey Johnson from the men's team selected Dr. Eric Nordmoe from the Mathematics Department to recognize as his MVP. Dr. Nordmoe also served as Casey's advisor during his four years and Casey attributes his guidance in helping him overcome various challenges. Casey also had him in class and credits Dr. Nordmoe's teaching style, inspiring him to pursue a more profound interest in data science. Casey also appreciates Dr. Nordmoe for all the guidance with his Senior Integrated Project and for serving as his advisor for that challenge as well.

From the women's team, Meghan Killmaster selected Dr. Vijayan Sundararaj from the Biology Department to recognize as her MVP. Meghan is grateful for Dr. Sundararaj's passion for the subject matter and for making the learning experience memorable with class trips to Binder Park Zoo and the beaches of Lake Michigan. Experiencing the subject matter hands-on was impactful in deepening Meghan's understanding and appreciation for environmental science and conservation. Meghan is truly grateful for Dr. Sundararaj's influence, as it has significantly impacted her academic and professional journey.

Dr. Peter Erdi from the Physics Department was selected by Sophie Zhuang from the women's team. Sophie picked Dr. Erdi because she loved the classes she took with him and thoroughly enjoyed his straightforward and thought-provoking teaching style. She appreciates all the lessons she continues to learn outside of the classroom due to his lasting impact on how she views the world around her. Dr. Erdi has made Sophie more curious and more conscious about the complex systems that she observes every day.

Renee Torres from the women's team selected Dr. Bruce Mills from the English Department to recognize as her MVP. Dr. Mills provided Renee with a valuable learning experience as a research, professional, and academic mentor. Despite never taking a class with Dr. Mills, Renee credits him with having the most significant impact on her learning experience at Kalamazoo. Renee is grateful to have had his guidance with her Senior Integrated Project, in which he tremendously expanded her writing, research, and critical thinking skills. She also appreciates him for being an excellent model of a genuine person and academic professional.

Kalamazoo College senior athletes have the opportunity to recognize their Most Valuable Professors throughout the 2022-2023 season.
