ALBION, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team came up short in both games of a doubleheader at Albion College on Saturday, falling 3-1 in the first game and 4-1 in the second game.

After three scoreless innings in the opener, Albion scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth and added another in the bottom of the sixth. Kalamazoo scored one in the top of the seventh and had the tying run on base, but was unable to score again.

Kalamazoo had six hits to Albion's five, but the Hornets left six runners on base in the game, including runners on second or third in two of the innings.

John Jackoviak went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the offense.

Kalamazoo scored a run in the top of the first inning of the second game, but Albion responded with four runs in the bottom half before a single out was recorded. Neither team scored the rest of the game and Kalamazoo left runners on second or third in four of the innings.

Albion had eight hits in the game to Kalamazoo's five.

Carter Chandler drove in the only run for the Hornets.

The two teams are scheduled to complete the series with a doubleheader on Sunday in Kalamazoo. The games are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. with a brief dedication ceremony for Kalamazoo's Woodworth Field preceding the games.
