KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team lost the series finale with Alma 2-1 at Woodworth Field on Tuesday.

Kalamazoo took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Marc Zughaib singled to lead off the inning and stole second. He advanced to third on a single by Scott Devine and scored on a sacrifice fly by Carter Chandler.

Alma evened the score with a run in the third and the score remained tied 1-1 until the top of the seventh.

The Scots led off the seventh with a triple and scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error that hit the back of an Alma runner.

Kalamazoo's Mitchell VanKoevering doubled to right center with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but a groundout to shortstop ended the game.

Kalamazoo outhit Alma 7-3, but the Hornets left eight runners on base in the game, including a bases loaded fourth inning.

VanKoevering finished 2-for-4 with a double. Six other Hornets each had a single.

Zughaib and Devine each stole a base.

Kalamazoo returns to action on Thursday with a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association doubleheader at Hope beginning at 2 p.m.
