ADRIAN, Mich. – Making its first postseason appearance in program history, the Kalamazoo College baseball team fell 17-1 to Adrian in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament.

Things started poorly for Kalamazoo as starting pitcher, sophomore Dylan Pierce, gave up seven runs on five hits without recording an out. Junior Adam McDowell came in relief and went two full innings surrendering just a single hit.

Leading 7-0 after one inning, Adrian would get one run in the second inning, four in the fourth, three in the fifth to put the game out of reach. Kalamazoo scored its one run in the top of the ninth.

The Hornets totaled five hits in the contest. Freshman Mitchell VanKoevering and Mario Ferrini as well as juniors Scott Devine, Joey Aliotta, and John Jackoviak had one hit each.

In the other MIAA Tournament game, Calvin defeated Hope 5-2 in Grand Rapids. Adrian will play Hope at noon while Kalamazoo will play Hope in an elimination game scheduled for 3 p.m. Kalamazoo took the season series with Hope winning both games in Holland and splitting the doubleheader at Woodworth Field.
