AUBURNDALE, FL - The Kalamazoo College baseball team was defeated 11-1 Sunday afternoon by the Westminster Blue Jays after seven innings of play. The game was the first of four that the Hornets will play in Florida.
Kalamazoo never came back from a rough first inning, in which it allowed eight runs. The high point of the day was probably the effort put forth by freshman pitcher Brandon DeFore who only gave up three runs on four hits over four innings of work. Brandon also struck out seven batters.
Josh Reuter batted in Kalamazoo's only run of the day in the top of the fifth inning. Connor Grant, Jack Dynes, and Carter Chandler each recorded a hit on the afternoon.
The Hornets play a doubleheader against Thomas, once again in Auburndale, Florida on Tuesday, Mar. 24.
