Baseball sweeps Finlandia

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team swept a non-conference doubleheader over Finlandia University at Woodworth Field on Wednesday. Kalamazoo won each game by the score of 20-0.

Game One

Kalamazoo scored 20 runs on 14 hits while also walking 15 times. Kalamazoo pitchers held Finlandia to just six hits and one walk.

Ben Blomme was 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles. Ian Kobernick had two hits including a double and two RBIs. Scott Devine had two hits and two RBIs with a home run. Jack Clark also had a double for the Hornets.

Ryan Orr improved to 5-0 with the win on the mound. Aaron Schwark, Andrew Eaton and Ryan Dayton also combined to hold the Lions scoreless.

Game Two

Kalamazoo scored 20 runs again in the second game on 15 hits and 12 walks. Kalamazoo pitchers held Finlandia to just four hits and one walk.

Scott Devine, Jon Ernest and Carter Chandler each had two hits for the Hornets. John Jackoviak had a double and scored four times.

Brent Yelton earned the win while combining with Nic Janssen, Adam McDowell and Joel Dayton for the shutout. 

Kalamazoo (15-11) returns to league play at Olivet College on Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m.
