Kalamazoo College's Ian Kobernick and Aaron Schwark earned MIAA Player of the Week honors on Monday.
Kobernick, a sophomore from Huntington Woods, Mich. (Berkley HS), was named MIAA Player of the Week. He hit .500 (9-for-18), including three doubles and two home runs, scored seven runs and added seven RBI as the Hornets posted a 6-0 record for the week, including a four-game MIAA sweep of Olivet. He homered in both ends of a doubleheader as Kalamazoo opened the weekend with a road sweep of the Comets, 6-4 and 11-0. Kobernick also stole three bases for the week.
He is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Schwark, a sophomore from Grand Rapids, Mich. (Forest Hills Central HS), was named MIAA Pitcher of the Week. He hurled nine shutout innings for the week, striking out six and walking only two. He threw a four-hit complete game shutout in an 11-0 win over Olivet, and two shutout innings in a win over Finlandia.
Schwark is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Kalamazoo (19-11, 14-6 MIAA) returns to action at home with a non-conference doubleheader against Ohio Northern on Thursday, April 23 at 2 p.m.
